What is Cameron House?

Cameron House provides care and accommodation for up to six children aged 10–18. Six single bedrooms, two lounges, a sensory room, activity space, garden and dedicated minibus help create privacy, choice and opportunity.

How do you support children at Cameron House?

Relationships are the intervention. Consistent, emotionally available adults use PACE, Positive Behaviour Support, trauma-informed and autism-informed practice to help children feel safe, communicate in ways that work for them and build confidence.

What makes Cameron House different?

Children’s views, wishes and feelings shape everyday life. Support is built around strengths, communication, sensory needs, health, education, relationships and the child’s own hopes for the future.

How does a placement at Cameron House start?

1. Enquiry: A social worker or placement officer calls to discuss the vacancy and the young person’s needs.
2. Suitability: We consider needs, communication, compatibility with the current group and the impact of a move.
3. Visit and referral: Relevant reports are reviewed, a preliminary visit is organised and the Children’s Guide is shared.
4. Introductions: Further visits, introductions and timescales are agreed with the young person and placing authority.
5. Preparing the home: The bedroom and first days are planned around the child’s interests, routines and communication.
6. Placement planning: A planning meeting takes place within 72 hours, followed by regular reviews and ongoing partnership.

Alina Opris is the Registered Manager. She leads a compassionate, skilled team that builds trusting relationships and creates the conditions for children to feel safe, understood and able to thrive.
